Overview
- After graduating from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and
Clark College in Portland, Oregon, Michele Longo Eder was admitted to the Oregon
State Bar in September of 1979.
- Ms. Eder first served as an associate attorney
with the law firm of Lovejoy and Green in Lincoln City, Oregon. In
1984, she established her own practice in Lincoln City, continuing
to represent clients in the areas of criminal defense and family
law. Her experience in the field of criminal law included serving as
co-counsel with nationally-known criminal defense lawyer Gerry
Spence, in the representation of Sandra Jones, who was charged with
murder, and was acquitted by a jury. Spence has written a book about the case,
entitled The
Smoking Gun.
- In 1992, Ms. Eder moved her law practice to the law firm of
Macpherson, Gintner, Gordon and Diaz, in Newport, Oregon, serving as
“of counsel” to the firm. Since 1992, her work has focused on
several areas of law, including family law, business law, and marine
and fisheries law. After 12 years with the firm, in May 2004, Ms.
Eder has re-established her office as a sole practitioner, at 4 SW High Street
in Newport, Oregon.
- In addition to representing clients in her private practice, Ms.
Eder has served as Lincoln City Municipal Court judge, as an
arbitrator for the Lincoln County Courts for 15 years, and has been
professionally trained as a mediator in family law cases.
- Michele Longo Eder is admitted to the trial courts and appellate
courts in the state of Oregon, the U.S. Federal District Court for
Oregon, and the U.S. Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San
Francisco.
- Actively involved in professional organizations, Michele Longo Eder
has served on Oregon State Bar committees and has served as
president of the Lincoln County Bar Association on two occasions,
from 1982 to 1984 and in 2003. She has been recognized by the
Lincoln County Bar Association for the establishment of the
Volunteer Lawyers Project in Lincoln County in 1984 and has also
been recognized by the Legal Aid Services of Lincoln County for her
contribution to pro bono work for clients in need.
